Classification of river regulation
In order to prevent flood, navigation, water supply, drainage and rational utilization of riverbank and beach, according to the law of river course evolution, adjust and stabilize the position of main stream according to the situation, so as to improve the engineering measures of flow, sediment movement and the location of riverbed scouring and silting. River regulation can be divided into two categories: 1. River regulation in mountainous areas. There are mainly channelized waterways, reef blasting, barrier removal, improvement of flow pattern and local dredging, etc. (2) Plain river regulation (including estuary section). It mainly includes controlling and adjusting River regime, cutting bends and straightening, river channel widening and dredging, etc. The legend of Yushu Jiuhe River flowing into the sea 4,000 years ago in China. Pan Jixun of the Ming Dynasty had made great achievements in harnessing the Yellow River. He also wrote A Glimpse of River Defense, in which the theory of "harnessing rivers with water and attacking sand with water" was innovative and scientific and had a long history. With the progress of modern hydraulics, river dynamics and river sediment engineering, the development of river model tests and the improvement of Engineering materials, river regulation has developed to a new stage.
